Hi Lynn,
Well yes she is a little hefty isn't she? The weight is the cause of her problems. When a cat is that heavy and 9 years old they are now seniors and will begin having problems washing themselves due to some arthritic areas. Now add a lot of weight to that and Paradise just cannot reach her tush to clean herself after she deficates or pees. So now you have the feces just siting their and it is terribly irritating--like a human not wipeing themselves (sorry for the vivid explanation).
Her weight may also be causing her problems with getting in and out of her litter box--the extra weight is hard on her joints. All and All if you take her to the vets and there is not major medical problem causing this behavior, then she just needs to be placed on a diet. See if the vet will give you a prescription food for her. My Mia is on Hills Z/D and she loves their hard food and doesn't really mind the soft food, but it is like pudding. I mic it with a little water or chicken broth --but this is for allergies. I am sure there are other diets just right for Paradise.
In the meantime keep washing her yourself, even if you just use the baby wipes for her tush. Although Cats really love to be clean , so when they cannot clean themselves they will love you even more for helping them look beautiful----they are very vain little creatures, LOL!
Keep us posted and a BIG hug for Paradise.

Welcome back!
No useful suggestions...Miss Teia had a blockage last November.
But, last time had a kitty with looseness, it was Hildiekatt and turned out to be intestinal lymphoma. Hopefully Paradise just has some inflammation. Going back to the litter box is, I think, a hopeful sign.
Of course it ended up sideways. Lol!
