cat acting wierd

hi...we have a 3yr old cat (maine coon)...he use to be just an indoor cat, now he goes outside, weve always had trouble with the litterbox, he wouldn't cover his feces, the problem is that now he has not used the restroom indoors for the past two weeks.. he is eating fine, and the other wierd thing is that he was never close to my husband, now he just wants to be near him and have him pet him, he even follows my husband around, it kind of freaks him out.  i would appreciate any kind of advice as to what could be going on with our cat travellar

Can I ask why you've decided to allow your cat that was safe and not in harm's way to now go outside where he is exposed to things that could hurt him on a regular basis like cars, fleas, rabid animals, cruel children, dogs etc?
Why not just keep inside.  No judgment, I'm just curious.

Allowing him to go outdoors has probably caused personality changes. He's getting all kinds of new input into his fuzzy little world ! This isn't bad, it will make him a more active animal, though.
I'm assuming he's not going to the bathroom inside at all? Not surprising, he prefers to do it outside.

It's probably because he doesn't care for the littler you use. If he's not covering, it's because the box is to small and/or not clean enough to his taste. Are you using clumping litter? It's the only really good, clean litter.
