Burning?

Has anyone had burning in head on one side. It went away after rest?

Yes, I get a burning sensation on the back of my neck from the shoulders up to the base of my skull. I have had the burning sensation go all the into my right arm and hand. this has been going on for years. I was told I had pinched nerve in my neck. 4 years ago I had posterior and anterior cervical fusions. The pain has never really gone away and has actually gotten worse the last year, and really bad the last 6 months.
Other symptoms include, pain in shoulder neck area, numbness, tingling and weakness on the right side upper extremities, headaches, tingling on the right side of my face, and double vision in the right eye.

Wow, we have very similar symptoms. It started for me about 2 years ago when I turned 50. I also have burning on the left side of my head and face which confuses the docs because they think cervical pinched nerves, arthritis, and bone spurs symptoms happen from your neck down. I first worried I had a brain tumor or MS but my brain MRI ruled all that out.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

It is possible to have so many different symptoms and they can be from a related or non related condition....so many that have Chiari may also have other issues as well....so, your Drs will need to rule related conditions out first and then the non related to see what is going on.

One related condition that may cause irritation to the nerves is SYRINGOMYELIA...depending on where the syrinx developed will depend on which nerves are affected and what symptoms will present as a result.

FIND a true Chiari specialist that will know what symptoms to look at and what conditions to rule out.
