Which birth control is best for Chiari Malformation?
I have only been diagnosed with Chiari for about a year but have had the headaches and passing out for almost 10. I was trying to get on birth control but my doctor said I couldn't because it could cause brain swelling? Has anyone else had that answer? Plus my neurologist just dropped me because she won't take my insurance, just trying to figure some things out. Thank you

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
I was not able to do any birth control as it affected me, later in life I had the same issues with HRT...makes sense as it is the same stuff, just different amounts. Anyway, I was not diagnosed until after my daughter was grown, so I was never given a reason like that....but I would encourage you to rule out related conditions as they may interfere with taking BC too.
