Can 2mm cerebellar tonsillar ectopia cause debilitating chiari symptoms?

My daughter was originally diagnosed with pseudo tumor cerebri in May, 2017 after an opening pressure spinal tap of 56cm.  After this tap she went through a series of 4 more taps with steadily increasing improvement in opening pressures (last one was 27cm) all of which relieved her intense headache pain until the 5th tap.  That headache, which started on January 25th of this year has never gone away.  Her latest MRI shows a mild (approx 2mm) cerebellar tonsillar ectopia which I only found out about by showing the MRI to another med professional (the MRI report states everything is normal).  We saw a NUCCA chiropractor yesterday who says since her neck is leaning to the right (clearly visible on the MRI) it could be compressing venous flow and contributing to the problem.  He said he can try do a series of adjustments and will know within a week if he can help provide relief.  If not, he will recommend surgery.
Has anyone else ever had relief from a NUCCA chiropractor? There seems to be some question as to whether or not 2mm herniation could even cause her symptoms which are debilitating:  intractable migraine for over 150 days, POTS symptoms (dr. has referred us for tilt table test), fibromyalgia onset 2 months ago, flares in pain where we would have previously gone to the ER but now we know no pain medicine (IV or otherwise) can give her relief, dizziness etc. etc.  She is 14.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

STOP!! Do not let a Chiropractor touch her at this point.....that is one thing Chiari specialists say over and over again....as the area is too touchy and if the Dr over manipulates it , that can only cause more issues.

Do you know does she have Chiari or low lying tonsils due to the LP's? If when a LP is done, if they draw too quickly it can cause the tonsils to herniate....Chiari is a malformation of the skull which leaves the cerebellum too small to hold that part of the brain which leads it to herniate.

Keep a journal of her daily activities and see which ones may cause an increase of her symptoms.

Also have her checked for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, it can cause headaches and CCI which could be why her neck leans.....so do find a true Chiari specialist to help you choose the right course of action for your daughter.
