I was diagnosed in May 2012, and like you have not been able to find any connection, theoretical or otherwise, between contacts and Chiari. My contacts have been getting more uncomfortable over the years, and optometrists routinely dismiss my questions as to why, I suspect because they don't have an answer. For me, there is definitely a correlation between wearing them and head pain, so I've stopped wearing them. While perhaps oversimplistic, this view comes after years of doctors not being able to do anything for me until AFTER something terrible happens. I had an ocular migraine which, though I've been told is nothing to get excited about, is pretty scary since I lost sight for about 20 minutes. Since no one has been able to tell me anything definitive about my Chiari situation, I listen to my what my body is telling me, one of which is that it does not like the contacts.
Hi...Chiari and related condition can and will affect our eyes and it could be those related issues causing the issue with ur contacts....even some meds can cause Dry eye and that would make contacts uncomfortable.
Some related issues that can cause issues is Ehlers-Danlos, POTS, ICP....so it is important to know what all u r dealing with.
HI and welcome to the Chiari forum.
U may want to try a neuro opt. instead of a regular optometrists ......this is deff an issue regular eye drs will not be able to help with just a regular NS is not the best choice either....we need a NS that is a Chiari specialist.
