Chiari and restrictions after surgery

Hey, just wanted to get some input on what people think so i had the surgery for my Chiari about 3 years ago and have not had any symptoms since. so my question is whether or not its a good idea to start doing MMA again and if there is a chance for symptoms to come back.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

Congratulations as you are a minority not having any symptoms and for 3 yrs....that is fantastic.

What is MMA?

MMA stands for mixed martial arts. My son used to do iit, thankfully he no longer does and is now in the navy. It's a mixture of boxing and  other things. Kinda rough sport and can involve punching to the head and choke holds. I'm surely not one to give out advise but it seems reasonable to assume it could deff trigger symptoms and perhaps injure your surgical site. If it were me I would avoid it at all costs
