Essential Oils

Hi! I've been decompressed for 2 and 1/2 years. I occasionally still get headaches and it seems to be happening more frequently as of late.  Does anyone use essential oils to help with headaches? Or just Rx meds? The only meds that really give me any relief make me sleepy.  Since I teach, it makes taking meds before or during work hours impossible.  Just exploring me options. Thanks in advance!

I use something called deep relief essential oil roll on. I carry to work and apply it on my head as soon as I feel it coming on. I'm also a teacher. It takes the edge off the headache as well as the pressure. It's still there but I'm functional. I'm also a chiari sufferer but I'm terrified to have the surgery.

Hi and welcome to  the Chiari forum.
.I know this surgery is scary....but not having it when you have a CSF obstruction is very scary too....I had surgery in May of '09 and am doing well and it is much better then I was prior to surgery.....

Hi. I have not had surgery yet, but I have been using essential oils to help with my pains. They really do help. I have been using doTERRA oils. You can find them online. They are true pure oils and that makes a huge difference. It isn't inexpensive but lets face it, all the meds, doctor visits, hospital visits, and surgeries are worse. The oils are a great natural change from prescription medications. The great thing about the oil kit I have is that it can help and heal many other issues as well.

   Everyone  is  different  as  to what  they deal  with  post op.,....have  you  looked  into  they  could  be  caused  by  a related  condition/issue?

I  am  reading  up  on  essential  oils  and have not  yet  tried  them,  but  am  considering  them  for a  few  reasons  not  just  headaches....
