Don’t get an opioid pain meds, it’s HELL to come off, I know!!!! I’m going through it right now....on my 2nd week of nothing but misery. Just my opinion. And I live in chronic pain.
I've been on several different medications and courses of treatment over the years. I take Tramadol (similar to Vicodin but not as strong) on an as-needed basis. While it is not a cure-all, it definitely helps ease my shoulder and neck pain. I've also been prescribed Amitriptyline by two separate doctors but that's a daily pill that I wasn't comfy taking. No judgement, just not for me.
A couple of years ago, my Neuro recommended an occipital nerve block which has been a complete game-changer for me. I see a Pain Management doc quarterly for the nerve block and it truly works wonders for headaches, neck/shoulder pain, and irritability due to pain. It took over 10 years for a doc to recommend the nerve block to me and I'm so glad that someone finally did!
Hope this helps.
Hi...since you have other issues, it may not be easy to find a med that helps with your pain....I never found anything....that is prior to surgery.....post op, I have tried many things because I do deal with pain, I have related conditions so trying to figure out what is the root cause of the pain it is difficult.
I have been using CBD daily and it helps me...the only med I take is ibuprofen and that is only in a flare,so it's rare.
