Head 'buzz'!

This might be a bit random........I had decompression surgery 3.5years ago which was very successful, however since surgery I have a 'buzz' in my head, that is sort of like when 2 live wires touch and there is a buzz of electricity. It has settled down in the past year or so, it used to be 4-5x, really loud, now it's a bit softer and only a couple of times. The only time it happens (that I hear) is around 20 mins or so after I've gone to bed! I'd be interested to know if anyone has anything similar.

Hmmm, not sure...most of us tend to have buzzing which is associated with tinnitus  ....if I find anything I will let you know.

I don’t know if this is what you’re describing or not but I have similar episodes where I’m laying down and get a sudden zap sound and feel inside my head. It’ll make me jump bc it’s loud and I’m obviously not expecting it. Kinda like a painless jolt of electricity. Very strange indeed and never found an explanation for it

I also have tinnitus including pulsatile tinnitus but it’s totally different than the zapping for me

Hi, no it’s not a buzzing, it’s a buzz, like a quick pulse of sound it only lasts a second.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

It sounds like you are describing tinnitus, ringing or buzzing in the ears, it is always there but more pronounced when it is quiet, like at night.
There are several reasons why Chiarians deal with this....and there are a few things  you can try to help lessen the disturbance of the sounds.....try a sound machine, this will help drown out the buzzing....I do notice mine more at night too, but I am aware of it all day too.
