No worries, ask as many questions as you have.....Yes, you can have more than one syrinx, syringomyelia is the condition of having a syrinx....so it's more than one syrinx, not syringomyelia.
I had tingling in my feet and I didn't have a syrinx....we can have all sorts of neurological issues due to Chiari, Syringomyelia, Ehlers-Danlos. Tethered Cord...and a few other conditions.

No worries...yes I think you meant SYRINGOMYELIA...that is when a syrinx, or a pocket of fluid forms and then obstructs CSF flow...and can cause compression of the spinal cord and depending on where the syrinx forms will determine what symptoms you have.

As far as carpal tunnel, I was DX with Tarsal tunnel ( ankles instead of wrist) and had surgery, only to find out they did it wrong and I required a second surgery. Do not rush into ANY surgery, because you need to rule out ALL related conditions first as that should indicate how the surgeon should proceed.

To help with spelling-- CHIARI is pronounced KEY  AR EE
SYRINGOMYELIA is pronounced  Sa ring go my ee lia
Knowing how to say them can help with the spelling aspects..

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

Each of us will experience this journey with Chiari differently, and this can be attributed to other  related conditions we may have as well.

AS for can an injury trigger the symptoms....YES! But it sounds like you had symptoms prior to the injury, it sounds like you went into a flare after your injury.
Chiari symptoms can cycle...they seem like they are never ending then one day you are free of them and just as you get used to that , they come back....

The TMJ could be due to a related condition , Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome....many with Chiari also have it. Do some research on that.

I hope I answered your questions, if not, ask again....just know you are not alone.
