Metallic Drip in your throat

Has anyone ever had a Metallic Drip in your throat? This has happened to me three distinct times. Every time, right after my nose started running clear liquid. Thanks everyone

Hi a lot of it sounds like it could be acid reflux too.....and there is such a thing as silent reflux which means no heartburn.

many with chiari do have these added lovely conditions to deal with.....such as if u have EDS, most likely u have a hiatal hernia...which will give u reflux....and if not, chiari itself causes post nasal drip, which in turn causes reflux...so.........

U can see where I am going : D

My experience is the same as 4inline..I would always get this awful metal taste in my mouth but mine is accompanied by a burning tongue and roof of my mouth and my throat goes very dry. I feel constantly like I have to drink something to ease it as it gets so bad it tingles and numbs. I have gone to several drs and they all say I have a good saliva output so it's not that...it has come down to something to do with the nerve that supplies to the toungue, maybe some damage. This is actually one thing that has got worse since the surgery, but I'd make the trade anyday since I can walk so much better now! It is a question I am going to bring up to the NS when I see him for followup. Oh also, I have Hashimotos and I wondering if it could be related to that. I get the drip down my throat and always from my nose but I am pretty sure that it something to do with my sinuses...

Great to hear others have had this too! :D Makes me feel so much better!

I have no dental fillings and drink only filtered water.

Last year I went for about four or five months with a metallic taste in my mouth.  It was so bad that my mouth watered constantly.  I went to the dentist, my regular doc...nothing.  Nobody could tell me anything.  My doc thought it had to be dental, but it wasn't because I could taste it coming from my tongue.  I know that sounds weird, but I know when a taste is coming from a tooth.  It finally went away, but it comes back occasionally.  Good luck.

Hi, I have had the clear liquid drip out of my nose many times for the last 6 months or so, and also the metallic taste. This happens when the pressure is so bad in my head.  I told one of the NS I saw about it.  He looked at my MRI immediately and said that he didn't see something or another and acted like it was unrelated.  This proves to me it is related.  It helps so much to read about others having these bizzare symptoms though. I don't think the NS's even know enough about Chiari.

Hi, a metallic taste can be a CSF leak.....a high copper level, calcium carbonate suppliments, or some antibiotics can also cause this taste to appear.

I would contact the dr to get testing to see what this might be...some even feel a leaking from older dental filings may cause this taste.

Good luck and post an update when u know for sure :)
