Hi just a quick update Pam had her lumbar puncher today and the presure was high 25 they reduced it to12. Still awaiting a mri brain scan and hoping for more information then. Her vision is very blurry and facial numbness a problem. Thanks for all the well wishs.
Pam's hubby.
Thanks for the updates on Pam....I am so sorry she is having this problem.....
The excess CSF that develops post op can be from a couple different sources/reasons....
One the dura patch used may be causing a rejection or infection....
two she had high CSF prior to surgery and it was not detected.
Wish I could offer more insight....
Send best wishes for a smooth and quick recovery to Pam <3
Not sure my post showed earlier. It's Pam's hubby btw she had lumbar puncher today and pressure was high at 24 drained to 12. Pam is now in awful lot more pain and feeling very ill. Having great trouble getting a meting with her consultant and answers are not a bit easy to get. Any advice greatly recieved. As I know own has had a lot of help from here. We are hoping for an mri tomorrow.

Hi I am sorry, and I understand ur frustration with the staff and not knowing what is going on....
It sounds like they feel u either have high or low CSF pressure causing the issues, which is y they want to do the lumbar puncture...as long as u keep hydrated and lay flat after the procedure u should be fine....I am sure ur NS knows the correct way to do this so it does not cause u more issues.
And it is possible that u may have a CSF leak...Do u feel worse when upright?
It may also be the meds as I also had a time of it being sick and we found it was the morphine, and once the med was changed I did so much better.
Hang in there and keep us posted...sending <3 ((hugs)) and prayers for a quick recovery.
I am so sorry your having a rough time. Surely you will turn the corner soon and when you do things will be so much better. Don't feel like you are bothering the nurses, that's their job. They are supposed to help make you feel better!
Sending you hugs and prayers for a quick recovery!
Hi everyone it's been a pretty rough week and still struggling so I'll be brief please excuses my shortness. First of all thanks for all the thoughts and prayers please keep them coming.
It has been a rough time, operation went well according to my surgeon even tho and I had to spend 3 days in HDU while thy managed my pain. On a neuro ward now still being very sick and in pain. My symtoms have worsened and my consultant has ordered an mri and a lumbar puncher (which I am very frightened about as I had one last year that made me very ill) sometimes yiu feel such a burden and I think the staff find it hard as they can't actually see what is wrong with you if that makes sense. Very disappointed as I hoping to be home recovering now. Does anyone the dangerous of lumbar ouncher so soon after decompression??
Thanks hugs pam
Hi Craig.....tell her to stay flat for as long as she can, keep hydrated with water....and see if she feels better....it can take time for a leak to be seen....
But one of the issues is to feel worse when upright....
So for now she should remain flat...caffeine can also help with a leak so give that a try too.
Hayley got sick today, we are home. She is afraid that caused a leak. She now says it hurts when she sits up and does not hurt when she lays down. She is worried about a leak. From what I've read she should have swelling and light sensitivity? Doesn't seem to have the normal symptoms of a leak. She says her head throbs but it did that before too. <Medication has been working. Just looking for some thoughts. Craig (husband)
Glad u r headed home....just remember to take it slow..... <3
Woohoo! I am heading out of here sometime today. I am definitely looking forward to getting out of here!
Hayley...
So glad your pain is under control. Sounds like its been rough, but at least you are on the healing side now :-) I have inflammation and swelling in my knee possibly from a cracked knee along with a Bakers cyst they say. I see the Ortho today. Fun stuff here. Hope you feel a little better each day. You'll be home and putting this behind you before you know it! Lisa
Thanks for the prayers and encouraging thoughts everyone. I think the pain if finally being controlled well now. I'm in a regular room so if things.go as planned I will be getting released in friday! I looking forward to showering layer today.
Things are going pretty good. I am waiting for them to over me to a regular room. Yay! Last night was rough and my mouth is super dry! That's really annoying. Lol. I wish you were having surgery tomorrow too! I was so looking forward to meeting you.; did you find anything out about your leg pain?
(((( Hayley))))) You are a brave and wonderful person. I wish I would have been able to keep my surgery date so we could have met. But I can't wait to hear all about it when you are able. I am praying for you my friend :-) Lisa
So glad she is out....and many times they find that to be the case...more crowding then what shows on a MRI....
Let her know we r thinking and praying for her <3
Hayley is out of surgery and doing well. Doc said she was pretty crowded more than he thought she was going to be.
Praying all is going well,
will be thinking about both of you hoping for a speedy uneventful recovery
