Stupidity

Today started having numbness on left side of face with headache. Have chiari with syrinx that has  not been monitored by neuro bc they said it was bot needed. Admitted to hospital, had tests done and neurologist just said that I just freaked out about my condition ad thaty numbness was a result of migraines. Told me to keep neurology appt that I have with someone else on thursday. Have decreases sensation all the way up back and then said that maybe syrinx needs decompressing. U think??????? I'm a nurse and pretty furious that I can't get anyone to listen so once again um starting from square one. Sorry I had to vent bc I have been crying!!!!

I'm so sorry about your experience, it must make it so much worse being a nurse and knowing that they are not treating you as they should be. My sister is a nurse and she was repeatedly appalled at the way I had been treated.

It is hard to do but the only piece of advice I can give is to ignore the Drs who are not working toward helping you...and find one that CAN!! So important..if you find a good specialist then everything else will fall into place. I would start researching into a NS now.

  It is very frustrating, I went to drs for yrs and none listened.....we all r crazy...full of anxiety.....neurotics......

If they had an issue that caused them pain, but I read in a book that it couldn't possibly...would u listen to a book, or the person that had it?.....duh

Most of the time we  have no idea we have a condition at all...just pain....and drs just shove pain meds down our throats hoping we will go away.....they know it is above them and they can not deal with it, but their egos will not allow them to admit it.....this is y u need a true chiari specialist that is well educated and experienced with chiari and syringomyelia.

  And please vent away...it is one way we can keep our sanity...and not let those ill manor-ed drs win!!!
