working on pregabilin

Hi Guys! I've recently been diagnosed with a Chiari Malformation type 1. I've been prescribed pregabalin and  so far have only taken two 75mg tablets. I have to say they make me feel like I've been drinking! My problem is that I am a teaching assistant due to go back to work on Tuesday. I'm concerned that I won't be able to concentrate while taking this medication.Does anyone know if the side effects stop or lessen with time?

Hi selmaS.
So far just an mri of my head. I've had a letter from the neurologist stating that I Have CM1 and requesting my gp provide the meds. I ha e previously tried amitryptolene and gabepentin which both caused much stronger side effects. My concern is feeling odd while I have to work with the children. I am now awaiting a follow-up appt with the neurologist.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

The other name for this med is Lyrica....and many have had issues with it...what you describe is a side effect and you should inform your Dr...as you may need to change meds at this point....

With Chiari there are not many meds that will last long in the benefits area....many will cause you to be in a fog....but may not continue to mask the pain and that is all it may do is to mask the pain for a short time....

The side effects and issues they cause are not helpful to those of us with the symptoms we already deal with .

May I ask what testing have you had so far?....Were ALL related conditions ruled out?
Do you have a true Chiari specialist helping you?
