Waking up in sweath and racing heart!

It's 3h30 in the morning. I woke up at 3h. I was so hot I taught I was going to melt, I was in sweath, so much that all my head is wet! and my heart was racing at 100 pbm and a flight or fight feeling. Is this something that could be related to Chiari. Anybody else experience things like that once in a while? It's scary!

I wake up every night and morning all sweaty, shaky, heart racin, and tingly like im gonna pass out. My pt says its def not normal, so be sure to tell pcp and nl in jan when i go. Its scary. Every morning for about a month and a half i have to sit here for a half hr or longer til i feel ok. By then im all wore out. Ugh. Pt says it has something to do with movement and blood pressure. I really dont want another chiari symptom. :(  looks like i do. Just have to figure out why?!

Your symptoms have everything to do with your Chiari Malformation.  The Chiari itself affects the brain stem; which is the part of the brain that is going through your skull and crowding your spinal cord.  The brain stem controls your Autonomic Nervous System, which controls involuntary actions like your heartbeat, breathing, pupil size, perspiration, and your fight or flight response.  As long as you have your Chiari Malformation, you can have these problems.  You can also have them temporarily following the surgery due to swelling.

When u post a question and go back to review the replies u have an option to select the best answer to ur question...the stars denote those that have answered many questions in a forum......not necessarily the best answer-er...but answers a lot, many times members confuse the stars for the best answer.....

The Best Answer is the best for the member who asked the question, and it could be the best for info given, support, or just a warm welcome to a community.

Some of our communities do have questions that are asked over and over again, and that's okay.  Each community has a search feature if a member is looking for posts on a certain subject.

We are a member driven, peer support site, and our moderators don't and can't check the factual information on each post.  We find that if inaccurate info is given, other members correct it.  It also helps members make the best decision for them (along with their doctors) if they have all the info, pros and cons, and all the options

Hope that answers ur ?

It's no use that I call my dr before January, she is not at the office for the hollydays.

And I'll also ask to meet with the specialist for the c-pap. So I can have a new sleep study and look at they other kind of mask.

I had this problem also.  For me it was my PCP told me my body was in shock due to 1 or all the surgeries. I question your's since you haven't had surgery.  I talked to my NS about this and he told me that if you have an obstruction it need's more pressure to get through the narrowing, so in return it causes your heart to race.  It makes since to me.  I'm not a Dr. but as my husband explain's thing's for me to easier understand.  We are like car's, electricity etc.  You have to put something into to make it run if your engine (body) isn't running right every thing else start's acting up.  Made more since to me so I hope I explained this right.  Hope it also help's.  It is very scary to have this happen.  Also mentioned on here before that I dreamt that I was working and woke up from my dream like this.  Weird what happens when our bodies don't run right.  That's why when being dx'd with Chairi we have to go in and get body work. LOL.

I never thought about this.  I've not had surgery.  I tried the ones that they put in your nose like you're talking about.  They're nasal pillows and I couldn't use them.  They sent air in but couldn't exhale.  But hopefully your doctor can help you figure out what is best for you.

When I was tested for sleep apnea it was a concern of mine as I can not stand nething around my head,  they told me there are new ways to administer the air...there are tubes much like they use in the hospital that use the around the ear or the nose to hold in place and not the back of the head...

I would suggest calling ur Dr b4 the appointment and letting him /her know what is going on they may choose to see u earlier.

I only have an appointment with my Dr at the end of January. I have sleep apnea and a c-pap. I got my c-pap almost 4 years ago. I didn't had surgery. But that brings me a question! If I get surgery how will I use my c-pap mask as it press around my head and the back of my uper neck?

Drewlevas, I did this too and discovered it was sleep apnea for me.  Not sure if you have the issue already or consulted a doctor but could possibly be it as well.  I had head sweats really bad at night and woke up like I just ran a marathon my heart was so crazy.  Since getting the cpap machine, I've not had any night sweats or racing heart issues.
