Thanks LauraSue, I was quite upset myself. My NS did go to bat for me and took it as high as he could. (He spent two weeks working on it.) At this point, he says it's not worth my time or his time to just shoot back & forth case studies supporting each viewpoint. I am scheduled for surgery on November 8th regardless of the flow study, based on my herniation & symptoms.

That make make me so angry. I'm sure most insurance companies will find an excuse. I think you should fight it with the ins co. If it is experimental then why have they shunted hydrocephalus children for 30 year with success. The real problem is insurance companies Blue Cross/Blue Shield all started off as not profit. Then someone figured out out much money could be made Now it is it of control. If you and your Dr provides evidence and statistic I think it will may be able to pass thru. You just should not have to fight for normal care.
they tell you a csf flow study is EXPERIMENTAL and they deny it.
they do not let ur dr do all the testing to get a dx.......
