Very wise to keep all reports and MRI's handy and in a media so able to transfer....
I do have a question and I am not being a smart a%$ what is a thumbdrive? Is it like a zip something or other...sorry I really do not know much and now can not recall the name of the item my DD wanted me to use,...it was zip something.....
I do know some Drs do not give out e-mail addys, so nething that can make the transfer of info easy....something us non comp savvy folks can do, I am all ears : )
A thumb drive - also called a jump drive or a flash drive - is a little gadget that plugs in the USB port on your computer and stores files. It operates in basically the same was a a CD-R or a floppy disk. It's just more convenient and portable.
A zip file is basically a bunch of files that have been condensed - or zipped - into a single, smaller file. They require a utility to create or access (you have to "unzip" the files before you can open them), but I think such a utility might be included with Windows, and if not, they're easy to find and install. Zip files are great for when you need to send a bunch of files as you can "zip" them all together rather than having to send dozens of individual files.
zip drive is an old way of saving / storing data. thumb drive or flash drive is a stick looking device that plugs into a usb port. Most Dr have 3 emails addr. personal, office, patient. He might of also meant zip file which automatically shrinks data to reduce file size, so its easier to email.
Thank u to u both for the lesson on computer terms....I think it was a device to plug in, so not sure, I guess it was a flash drive, ne way I just did n't recall the name, but they never got me one or showed me how to use it...so it was a mute point for me...I took all my CD's and copies of reports to all my Dr visits.
Granted it would have been easier to take a smaller device, but do they open on all systems?
They sure do! They're handy little devices, and nowadays they're pretty cheap. :)
I will have to pick one up and see if I can figure it out : ) Thanks...I thought it would be as diff as the Disks themselves, they all r diff in how u open them, my Drs had a hard time and I tried and was afraid I would wreck it so I did not play around as I did not know what I was doing....
next time your at a computer with your mri disk let me know & i should be able to get you exploring your mri's. I've got my running around done for the day so i'll have my laptop handy while i sit on my butt and watch tv, lol.
I can't hep but comment on this, because I'm so computer illterate. My DH has a thumb drive and he was holding it one day and I asked him what it was. He said. "Thumb drive". I asked. " What do you want to drive that into your thumb"? LOL.....I was just kidding with him, but he thought I was serious. They are really nice and handy to use. At least for him..I'm so thankful that he set this site up for me and has everything at my fingertips because he knows he could show me how to do it and tomorrow I won't remember...Thanks for sharing this info. It is helpful to have this when seeking a NS. Records are right on hand.
Goood day my Chairan friend.
Linda :)
