Shane is right, as it gets closer it gets easier. I felt scared and anxious but as it got closer I felt sense of calm that I had not felt before. If you feel comfortable with your NS
then you will be fine. I am doing so much better and glad that I finally decided on surgery.
I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!!

Good luck!!!

Lori,
I dont blame you for being scared, but we are all here for you and praying for you.

Keep thoughts about feeling better and getting back to normal and try some breathing techniques. Slow deep breaths in thru the mouth and out through the nose, this helps my anxiety.

Thinking of you

Will put you in my diary for the 23rd feb and will be sending tons of strength and warm healing thoughts your way for you. Feel confident and keep remembering Shanes comment above - thats what I'm going to do cause I'm scared too!
Wish you all the best and it WILL be good.

I think as the time gets closer, you find that you start becoming less stressed. The difficult decision has been made.

Just concetrate on getting things ready for your time off - finances, work schedule, babysitter, etc.

And remember that this will help. Even if it doesn't fix everything, it will at least slow the onset.

My NS that's doing the surgery is the same NS that I wasn't so sure about. Her name is Dr. Gail Rosseau. I googled her to see if I could find anything out about her and I was somewhat relieved to find she was nominated for surgeon general and is the spokeswoman for the American Association of Neurosurgery and has been interviewed about the Ted Kennedy surgery. She is very well educated and has done many decompression surgeries. She says that surgery at 6mm is not 100 % for relieving my symptoms she says most people with at least a 9mm with symptoms get better results. She said I have a 50 to 70 % chance the surgery will help me. At this point thats 50% - 70% chance I'll feel better... sounds like a good percentage to me!!!! Ill try to get Rosebud to let you know how I'm doing and as soon as I can get on the puter I'll get in touch
