kaleidoscopic vision

Today I had a terrible experience. My vision went all weird like if I was looking in kaleidoscopic glasses. Now I have a headache. Is this common with Chiari patients?

Hi Drew,....sounds more like a migraine with aura.....

I did have weird vision b4 surgery but it was only in my peripheral vision it looked like a window with raindrops running down it...but just out the sides of my vision....it was very weird and I have not had it since.

Since u have a HA afterward, I would say it is a migraine with aura. JMHO

I have C1M - 12 mm.  I've had a couple ocular migraines and that's what it sounds like.  No headache, just prism like images and it lasted for about 20 mins.  I first noticed the room seemed to get darker..so weird.  Getting ready to schedule surgery -- hoping for a march date.  Mixed emotions for sure - but am looking forward to getting rid of headaches, and so many sensations it would bore one to death to hear about.   I suspect I have come to accept how I feel as normal -- will be interesting to see improvements in areas I've come to accept as such ;)

I had a ton of vision issues before surgery, and when they started occurring along side my headaches my doctor sent me to an ophthalmologist and ordered the mri that would diagnose my chiari. When I went they said I had a nerve in my eye that was stuck in the ON position that was causing all my vision issues.I got the chiari dx the next day... and that went by the wayside. Post op I couldn't look at a cpu for 3 weeks and couldn't tolerate florescent lights at all... All of this has since resolved but at the time it freaked me out. Pre op? If I closed my eyes I got that kaleidoscope right away.
