Beisk reflexes are not uncommon as it can indicate a blockage to the brain...which Chiari with the herniation's create...and post op it can take time for inflammation to calm down and things to flow the way they should.
All I was told is it was not nerve damage and that it should clear up post op....much of it has.....but I still have some related conditions that were not addressed so some of what I still have can be due to that.
No I haven't did they find anything from that test. My legs seem more to be getting worse with pain the last couple days. I also have brisk reflexes. I don't know if that means anything?
It was not fun at all ...hurts....they put these really long needles into different areas and send electric pulses thru them to check the nerves for damage....
I do not want to have that test again, but I did get thru it with a very understanding Dr who was administering it...he kept on apologizing....I had the testing on my legs.... Haven't you had this one yet?
How was that test? What does it do?
I had the EMG testing done b4 my surgery....nothing like that since.....
And I hope you know that was boots not boats I meant to say above....lol...
That is what happens when you mix Chiari and being up too late...lol...
Did you have any testing for the neropathy?
Thanks so much for listening:)
YUP.....freezing....I had such a time trying to keep them warm....sometimes I did not feel they were cold unless I touched them...and it was a very odd sensation to feel they were so cold, but I was not cold....
I was wearing ugg like boats in the summer...I no longer need to do that as time passes I have less and less of these symtpoms.
When you have the numbness and tingling were your feet cold?
Hmmmm..... glad they ruled out TC....I did have tingling and numbness and it was more so on one side but I did have issues on both sides from time to time....the thing is, we can not say everyone with Chiari will only have a set list of symptoms and issues as we are all different....
Talk with your NS and see what might be going on....
Yes they did rule out tethered cord . The pain is from knees down with cold feet.
He said it usually doesn't unless you have a syrinx. I didn't have one. He also said it usually is bilateral it usually is one side or the other and mine are in both legs. He wants me to see a neurologist to have some test. I also gave muscle twitching to. Help
Hi...peripheral neuropathy can cause tingling and numbness in hands or feet....and it is common in those with Chiari....
I really do not understand when Drs do not think certain symptoms or pains can not be from Chiari when Chiari affects the brain stem, spinal cord, and all the nerves run thru there....so how can it not ?
Did they rule out tethered cord for you? What type of pain is it?
