So I'm anemic I don't eat right cause my taste has changed.what is over loading? If I took b12, c, d, and iron just one tablet a day it would hurt. I can't doctors to even listen to me in Mississippi. I know potassium and a blood pressure medicine it will cancel each other but I don't take any thing.

Megadoses are fine in water soluble vitamins as long as you drink enough water. You basically just pee out whatever your body doesn't need. Megadoses of fat soluble vitamins such as vitamin D can result in an overdose and make you really sick. Taking a multivitamin is generally a good idea for everyone, but they are meant to supplement vitamins in your diet, not replace them.

They are especially a good idea for chronic illnesses like chiari because you don't want to get sick or feel lousy from deficiencies on top of already having a chronic illness. Being deficient can make you feel fatigued. You don't want to be fatigued from chiari AND make it worse by being vitamin deficient. I don't know that they actually are effecting a chiari though seeing as it is a mechanical problem, not chemical.

I'm a vegetarian so I have to take B12. I always feel better and have a little more energy after I take B12 (sublingual dissolvable) but that's probably because my body needs it because I don't eat meat.

The question was asked in regards to the condition chiari as well....not just a blanket question on vitamins.....I feel they can benefit, but noone should self medicate even with natural minerals and vitamins...seek the aid of the pros to be sure u do not have interactions or taking something u do not need.

Vitamins r not a cure all and will not cure chiari symptoms, if u have low levels it may help with some issues, but not all...so do see ur dr.

I agree that one should not go overboard with vitamins. I take a modest amount of them and fortify my filtered water with trace minerals. My doctor took blood for a vitamin profile and I was fine for everything. Megadoses of vitamins are a really bad idea.

Since our soil is depleted of vital nutrients everyone should be taking vitamins and minerals, even if they are eating healthy food. Obviously is your body is well-nourished and your immune system healthy, it is easier to overcome any illness that might arise. Your mother and her friends are giving good advise.

Hi...Vitamins can be helpful if u have low levels....some vitamins if taken in excess build up in the system and is not good, some will flush out with no adverse affects....it is best to go to ur PCP for blood labs to see what u need and what dosage is right for u.

Vitamins r great, if ur system needs them.
