2 1/2yr old son's sexual actions worry me? Should I be concerned?

Have any of you ever had this problem? I had bought my son a little Diego House that folds up into a little camper and I noticed his behavior changed when he took a visit to Tampa to see his dad. He began touching his behind a lot. Lately it occurs everytime I am not watching and it drives me nuts because he will do it in a sexual demeanor (homosexual activity). He will find something to rub it against and to me it looks like anal sex is being performed. He will also continue to put his hand in his mouth a lot? Where does he gets this? I don't know and it stresses me out that perhaps he was exposed to sexual activity. When bringing it up to his father he insisted that I am crazy and he would never do that in front of his child. He is straight but I'm worried if this is normal or not and if I need to take him to a Therapist or take myself to one? He is a very bright little boy, and I'm just a highly concerned mother. I worry about Pedofiles and I know they come in every type of class so please send me some advice or reassurance.

What should I do?

Now everytime I have an itch I will be paranoid.

I don't think they are very common in Nova Scotia, probably our cold winters kill them.

Not sure if it pinworms or sexual, but please take your son to the doctor. As far as Masterbation it is not normal for a child of the age to masterbate. I have done some studies and when a child masterbates they are usually stressed and do not realize what they are doing.

Please take your son to the doctor soon. He need to see one regardless of what the problem is.

No -  I didn't see the show - I've had a bout with pinworms in my family - both boys appeared to have them when they were about 4 and 6 - and you can just get over the counter PinX (or whatever it's called) and treat them.

I know they're very very common - you see kids scratching their butts a lot - and I bet most of that is pinworms.

Gross,  but completely treatable.  ;D

(The grossest part of this is the life cycle - which is why adults who get Pinworms don't usually have a long infestation.  In order to reproduce,  the eggs have to travel through a human's upper digestive tract - which MEANS (eeks) that they travel from the human's butt,  to the human's mouth.  Usually under fingernails from scratching.)

Wow, worms or parasites is a really good point! I didn't think of that--I was too distracted thinking it probably was something sexual.

But yes, I'm sure that if it is parasites, his rectum would itch and he'd make what look like sexual movements. Just look at what worms to to dogs--they scoot their butts on the ground and lick because the worms are an irritation.

Take him to a pediatrician, have him examined for sexual abuse, and also ask them to do a lab test on his stool to check for parasites.

Hope all turns out well.

What does any of this have to do with buying him a Little Diego house that folds up into a camper?

Does it appear that his anus is itching and he's trying to scratch it?  Could he have pinworms?

I agree... take him to the pediatrician.  This will help at least rule out any abuse.  Has there been any changes to his bowel movements?  Any other changes in his behavior?  I think it will put your mind at ease to take him to the pediatrician.

You should discuss this with his pediatrician, if you are truly worried that your son my have been exposed to the sexual behavior of an adult.  Most likely your son is exploring his body and its normal for young kids to masterbate.  There is a post of the Child Behavior forum about a young girl masterbating.  Dr. Kennedy provide a good answer to the question.  Check that out.  Best wishes...
