7 year old daughter anger outbursts

For the last three months, I have been having a problem with my daughter being angry.  She remains angry for the most part, talking rudely to her older brothers and Dad and I.  But, when she gets angry, really angry about something, she will hit herself, say that she is stupid and hates herself, wants to kill herself, and is going to run away.  I know that she saw a boy in her class exhibit this type of behavior but now she does this quite frequently.  Is this a phase that she could be going through or is this indicative of some emotional problems that I need to get help for?  I am really getting frustrated with this and need help!

When I try to speak with the teachers or staff at school, its always, "Oh, she is just fine!  She is such a sweet girl!  I haven't seen any problems with her!"  I don't know if there is just some smoke being blown or if that is the case and it is only at home.

I might suggest that you discuss this issue with your daughter's teacher (has he/she noticed a change in attitude at school) as well as any other coaches/teachers who are involved with your child; and then, with the family physician.  It's always better to err on the side of caution.  Just my humble opinion .....
