8 Year Old Crying

I have a wonderful 8 year old son however, I am concerned about his behavior recently, he seems to burst into tears over little things for example:

When I picked him up from school today he walked out and burst into tears because his hat was stuck up in a tree!

Other good examples are:

Sometimes when I pick him up from school he runs out asking if he can go around a friends house and when I say no he cries.

When he can't take his football top to school he cried

When he has to do his homework

When he gets stuck on his home work he says he is stupid and cries

Also I think he is aware of his crying because a few of his friends at school called him a cry baby, and recently he has been trying to stop crying but tears are still flowing

I am really worried about him! However I don't want this to become a big issue is this normal behavior??

I know what you are talking about. I have an 8 year old son who is doing the same thing. Cries over the littlest thing. Have you found out any other information on how to handle this? If you have could you please! send it my way:) I am so worried for my son I'm not sure what to do, I keep trying to say positive things to him keep his confidence up. Please send any information that you get and I'll do the same.
Thanks!
A worried mom

This is not normal behavior, although I have students like this and went to school with students like this.  How do you respond to him?  My first inclination would be to ignore it.  If this is a recent change in behavior, you may wish to take him to the doctor.
Good luck and God bless.
