Hi,
My son is 7. He can be dificult and sometimes questions authority. He is not the kind of kid to take "because I said so" as an acceptable answer.  Most of the time I think he is very normal boy.  Tonight we found a book that he made and it had a man shooting a naked girl and had the word *** and ******* in the book.  We were very shell shocked.  My husband owns an automotive shop so he does hear swearing, but we have explained that it is unacceptable language.  We have a very strict loving  household.  Do you think we should have our son see a councilor? Any other suggestions for dealing with this situation?

It's hard to expect a child to be more mature than an adult in his choice of foul language.

I never do get that.  Parents who use vulgar language are shocked and upset when their kids do it.

I don't think he needs therapy.  I think he needs a dad who is mature enough not to teach him words that are socially unacceptable.

It may be a good idea not to use the term 'because I said so ' perhaps allow him some flexability in his own choices, where you can ..It sounds to me that he has seen this kind of thing in a magazine or on the PC/TV it may be a good thing for him to have more supervision when in his dad's store .......good luck
