That's really scary for a child. My son had choking incidents as a child when he ate things like meat. He had trouble chewing and gagged no matter how tiny I cut it. Anyway, he then refused meat and things like what he gagged on. And if he did try it, he immediately gagged like he was going to throw up. We went to a pediatric eating specialist (my son has sensory issues) and she that we have 'gag' memory. She must feel very anxious I would try to be patient and calm. Try a smoothie with some protein in it, puree her food and begin introducing solids again slowly. My son will eat meat now but it is slow going. He still will cut it until it is teeny tiny. He's 14 now! He can wolf down a whole pizza slice but chicken and pork or beef has to be super small. But at least he eats it, right? If it continues, speak to her pediatrician.
By the way, I once thought I was choking on a slivered almond. It did freak me out. Franky, we have a neighbor who choked in her own kitchen on a simple piece of cheese while her family was all at home. They didn't here her. So, you know . . . choking happens. And it is terrifying. Anyway, to this day . . . I will not eat a slivered almond in a salad or alone. So, I kind of get it.
But you want her to be comfortable so she can eat a balanced diet. So, be patient and introduce it back in slowly. good luck
