Holding On

Hi
I have just started using sticker rewards for my 31/2 year old son to encourage him not to hold on for long periods when he needs to go to the toilet. He was already toilet trained when this started. I started today and so far its working which is a huge relief because the situation was becoming upsetting for both of us, despite my best efforts not to let it become stressful. What I'm wondering now is how long do I continue to reward him like this. He starts preschool at the end of next week.  And if he is going to regress again anywhere i would expect it to be there. Should I ask them to continue with the sticker rewards also.

This is a good question I think you should continue for the moment and yes ask the teachers if they will also still use the reward system .Many teachers seem to forget in their busy day that young children have to be reminded to use the bathroom, and many times children hold it for hours or dont go at all or have accidents, .so ask the teacher to remind your child to go ..good luck
