I also have 25 month old son similar as your grandson since your post is from February can you please share with me the recent updates about him. I really want to help my son but couldn't figure it out how. Though i have already seen a pediatrician and she has suggested for MRI. I am trying my best to teach my son but its too difficult. Sometimes i feel so helpless :(
Thank you sandman2 : My grandson saw a paediatrician a couple of months ago but all the paediatrician says is that we need to see a speech therapist, and have blood tests. he has offered no other options. We have an assessment booked for speech therapy on Monday 9th February, and are awaiting the results of the blood test. We attend playgroups for developmentally delayed children and also, general soft play and toddler groups. He attends nursery two mornings per week. We all constantly talk to him in simple terms (ie use his name all the time and very simple commands) but he understands very little and still no words at all, not even mummy or daddy, he makes noises, many of which sound like "eeee". He is a very happy little chap. He had a hearing test in August, and we were told his hearing is fine, we definitely know he can hear sounds, as he knows when the TV is switched on or can hear someone coming into the room. He responds to gestures, ie "give me five " when we lift out hand to his, but I do wonder if he can hear actual words - So I wonder if perhaps his speech is dulled and he can only hear the noise and not the specific word. He has not been diagnosed with glue ear. We will ask the speech therapist on Minday for her views on this. I will post an update when I know more.
That was a very old post and I agree it would be very interesting to know how the child has progressed- but the post was over 5 years ago. But, in terms of your grandson, all studies show that the sooner he gets help the better! Hopefully, he has been evaluated and is being treated?
