Young boy searching the net for "boy privates"

I walked in on my 7 year old son searching YouTube for "boy parts". We had a calm conversation but he couldn't really explain (to me) why he wants to see other males private parts. There has been no inappropriate behavior or actions towards him. But what I do know is he is and has always been more feminine? His interests have always been what a little girl would like...movies, toys, clothes, make up etc. For a while I was thinking he might have more of a gender identity problem but now I'm wondering if he's gay. That sounds harsh way of explaining so I hope this makes sense.
However, regardless is it normal to have such curiosity and it be harmless?

I think it could  be normal curiosity and harmless, it could be  as simple as him wanting to know if his private parts are the same as others. You said you had a calm conversation. so what exactly did he say? did he just say i don't know?  Don't worry about him being gay. Our kids will go their own way, and we love them just the same.
