daughter gets headaches.. or not?

My 9 year old daughter has been complaining of headaches nearly every night at bedtime for over 6 months. I have taken her to the doctor and she seemed healthy, taken her to the eye doctor and got her glasses. Even with the glasses she still has headaches. Although if she spends the night with her grandma or somewhere different she doesn't complain of headaches. And they never seem to bad. She'll say it's hurts a little usually.  But even if she says it hurts a lot she never has trouble getting to sleep or gets woken up by it. A while after she started this my 6 year old started complaining about stomache aches at night. And just like her sister it doesn't happen until she lays down for bed and doesn't seem to happen if she stays somewhere else. I just don't know if they're doing it for attention or if this really happens.

Yep, probably what was going on.  Keep that pill bottle locked up or hidden.

I just recently started to doubt what she was saying after one night she lied to me saying she lost one of her chewable Tylenol,  so I would give her another, because she thinks they taste good. So then I started thinking maybe she just wants the medicine.
So I told her that she couldn't be taking pain medicine all the time because over using it can cause other health problems. She seemed worried and decided the headache wasn't that bad and she didn't need medicine.

Every once in a while she'll get headaches during the day. But it generally happens right after she lays down, within a min. Or two.

First off,  if she isn't doing anything else that seems attention-seeking,  I'd believe her that she really is having headaches.

Does it happen after she lies down,  indicating a possible problem with the pillow or mattress,  or her position pressing on an artery and reducing her oxygen level?

Does it happen before she goes to bed,  indicating maybe a lighting problem in the house?

If you google "headaches at bedtime".  you might be surprised at how common a complaint this is.
