my 6 year olds strange behaviours

Hello.. i have a 6 year old step daughter who was dropped at our door by her mother a year ago...and never heard from since. rochelle (my step daughter) has always had problems listening... its like she doesnt hear you even tho she can hear just fine... you can ask her a question that demands a full sentence question and get a response not even remotely close to your question if an answer at all..  she was very wild and unaware of anything going on around her.. always walking into people or objects.. doing whatever she wants regardless of the consequences..never complies with anyones requests especailly in school and has many strange habits... one of her habits are puking for the hell of it... she will take a random stuffed animal or cooked and vomit on it.. she will lean over the balcony and vomit infront of guests... i have tried to change her diet to see if it was a food problem but no luck. she also has a habit of playing with her feces.. wether she be at school, outside with friends, in her room .. or on the toilet... if at school she will poop and wipe up with articals of her clothes, such as undies and hide them in her pockets... she has no awareness of the feces being on her arms or hands or legs.. it doesnt matter to her. on the toilet at home she will wipe while in midst of pooping get it all over her self and wipe her poop filled hands on her shirt... in her room she will hide it with toys... she pees the bed almost everynight and constantly plays with her .... vagina. she will undress in front of anyone and she will undress outside to go to the bathroom.. she is currently in a form of physical therapy. she walks and runs like a "noodle" and again no awareness of where she is going... at school she is in a specail ed class for her listening behaviours and is classed as a "run away" she doesnt seem to have any empathy for anyone except herself... i knwo she has alot of emotional problems to deal with at her age ... her mother was injecting cocain while pregant with rochelle. and a year ago has abandoned her. im wondering if youcan give me some insight to what she might be going thro.. and maybe a lil advicxe on how to deal with it or to help her.. thank you

I wanted to add that since she is school age and if you live in the US, she could have a mental health evaluation for free through the school system.  A developmental evaluation would be good also as her mother was a drug user.  Good luck.

I am guessing that she was abused in the past.  I would definately have a full mental health evaluation and as the above poster said, counseling would be wonderful for her.  She has had it tough in her short life.  I wish you and her all the best.

I think it would be good to have some counselling for this little girl what does her school say regarding these extreme behaviors you say she behaves like this at school aswell, she seems to be very upset and emotional about something so some help is definatly required.
