4 yr old wont eat anything but ice cream

My 4 yr old stop eating about 2 1/2 weeks ago.  The only thing we can get him to eat is ice cream or pudding (smooth easy things that go down easy).  He will not drink the pediasure.  He drinks normally.  Have took him to doctor and hospital.  They dont seem to concerned.  Say he just has a sore throat.  He has lost about 4 lbs since this started.  He has always been a really good eater, eat just about anything.  He tells us that his throat hurts and points to his chest.  Doctor did do blood work and chest x-ray  they both came back normal.  He tries to eat sometimes but as soon as the food touches his tongue he starts crying and spits it out.  We have tried bribing him with money or toys and nothing.

He was just at the dentist and his teeth are all great.  This has now been 4 weeks.  I took him to hospital in another town and they told me that his tonsils are big and they believe that is the problem and that his reg doctor has to refer him for that.  So i take him to his reg doctor and they say they are not big.  Even though they look bigger than what they normally do.  That was what I first suspected was the problem.  He also has started to snore really bad and when he wants to eat and tries to take a bite he starts coughing and nose runs.  Even though he is not coughing or have a running nose any other time.

Usually when a child does not feel well, their appetite decreases. Have you checked his teeth? Since he is refusing to drink Pediasure, suggest giving him milkshakes (milk and ice cream blended) and continue with ice cream and puddings until he is feeling better. Thank you for your question.
