SUDDEN WEIGHT LOSS

My son Leo has always been on the small side. However, the older he gets he keeps falling of the curve.  He has had several recurring health problems to inlcude: asthma, severe asthma, food allergies, lactose intolerance, and frequent infections.   Recently at a ER visit I noticed he has lost about three lbs in two weeks. I am concerned but dont want to be the over bearing freak mom in the drs office every day.  My gut feeling has always been that there is something else going on with his health?  Any suggestions as to what migt be going on and where to start?  Thanks for the input!

why don't you try seeing another doctor and tell him of your concern, that way  you wont seem overbearing because this person will see you for the first time, don't tell this new doctor the diagnosis of the other doctor that way you will get a fresh opinion.

I am sure that you are giving foods that will replace milk, because children need calcium and iron to grow, so you must make sure that what you are feeding him is enough to replenish his store.

His weight is on the 10th percentile and his height is on the 25th percentile for his age which indicates he is normal. Was he on medication for his asthma recently? Some medications for asthma causes water retention, weight increases; and when it is discontinued weight decreases. He has numerous health issues. Suggest bringing him to his primary MD and have a complete physical done.
