oral aversion

My son was diagnosed as having oral aversion. My question is; if he REFUSES to open his mouth, and he won't self feed, how do I get the food in his mouth and get him to swallow? He is breastfed and is one year old and since the very first day I introduced food to him, he has clenched his teeth together and will not allow me to put a spoon in his mouth...any suggestions? Please help as I am frantic and need advice soon.
Kind Regards

From your question I thought it was an oral aversion to spoon feeding of regular baby food. If he is putting toys in his mouth, then have you tried giving him finger foods only for him to feed himself? Still suggesting he goes for Occupation Therapy to help him with the aversion and help he learn to chew / swallow. The Expert Child Behavior Forum may help you too.

You recommended giving my son Pediasure but he will not drink from a bottle or take a pacifier. He will put toys in his mouth but anything food/liquid related he refuses to open his mouth for...any other suggestions?

Is he going to chewing / swallowing therapy to help him with his aversion? Suggest giving him high nutrient dense drinks, such as Pediasure (used after 1 years old) so he still gets nutrients from a bottle even though he is not eating and he does not lose weight.
