How come if the xrays shows everything normal, will a Dr. said something like that??? Is it his opinion or did he saw something the xray readers didn't see??? Thanks for your help???

Dr. Anitha. Thanks for your reply. One last question. I received the results of my Pulmonary test. Pulmonary Function: were within normal limits. Test results showed mild abnormalities that do not require action at this time. Would you please explain some of this to me??? Seems like there is still a problem??? Thank you for your time and cooperation concerning this matter.

Sincerely,
Orlando

Hi, the X ray to some extent gives only the structural abnormality of the lungs. For the functional component a clinical examination and lung function tests help to assess this. If there is hyper inflammation of lungs a diagnosis of emphysema is made. Treatment for bronchitis is usually symptomatic. Antibiotics for infections and bronchodilators for bronchospasm. And of course avoidance of smoking to prevent further damage to the lungs.  Talk with your doctor regarding this in the meantime you could try warm salt water gargles, steam inhalations and breathing exercises. Regards.
