I had returned home from vaction to the tropics where I scuba dived, Had some slight diffuculty getting use to breathing but dismisssed it as aniexty. I have been diving for yrs but as I get older I also blamed a lot of my problems on aging.
Once home I came down with the worst attack of bronchiiitis I ever had. Couldn't breathe and had sever chest pains. I went to my Dr, had a stress test done in fact a whole heart work up. all was well in that dept. My Dr sent me to a Plumo, he did a PFT test on me and
found out I was in stage 3 copd.. also chest scans. I was a pipe welder for 35yrs and a heavy smoker until 11 yrs ago. I was diagnoised with Copd in 2008. It is terrible because I was always very physical, worked very hard, and played very hard. now if I get up to go to the bathroom I get short of breath and my heart races out of control. I can not believe what this disease has done to me. I am only 57 and I feel like I am 87.all of my dive gear just hangs and my boat is up on blocks. It takes all my energy to take out the trash. I feel for you , Best advice is get to the Dr's they will find out the answers. Good Luck. ps: copd can not show any symptons until it isw in a serious state.
