Anyone have sclerotherapy for rectal varices bl eeding?

I was dxd with cirrhosis in 2012.  I am 69 and have had hemorrhoids since 1998..had stapled hemorrhoidectomy in 2011.   I also had a colonoscopy a couple years later and the gastro performed laser coagulation.  all was well for a few years than had rectal bleeding again.  I was told I have impressive rectal varices.  These bleed quite a bit..bright red, dripping into toilet, and on tp.  I have been to the er many times and they end up sending me home.  It always stops spontaneously.  I have had drs tell me about sclerotherapy though there is not dr here that performs it....my gastro mentioned TIPS down the road possibly.  My meld is 7, platelets around 140,000 Inr and ptt fine.  I dont quite know where to turn.  I've seen a colorectal surgeon who said to use metamucil to bulk up stools to cause less bowel movements so as not to cause the bleeding...sometimes I can have 8 loose bms at one time.  he would not do anything to the varices for risk of infection.  He said I may be able to find someone who could but he wouldnt do it.   can anyone who has been thru this let me know what they have done and what has helped.  I have no hepatic encephalopathy or ascites.  just this darn bleeding after many bms. I always make sure my vitals are normal and that I am not dizzy or nauseous.  seeing so much blood is scary.  I am on propranolol.  I have gr 2 varices in the esophagus that do not need banding.  No gastric varix.  hemoglobin is okay.  I have had bleeding prob once a month or more...sometimes light and sometimes heavy.  the frequent loose bms are causing me to bleed....i never bleed unless I have many bms.

I would follow your dictors advice about the Metamucil. If you say the bleed is when you have too many BM’s that should help. Usually doctors try to go with the least invasive approach.
