Edema or Something Else?

I'm a newbie here. My 60 yr. old sister is in stage 4, Class B cirrhosis with HE complications.  For about 2 months she's has a headache from ear to ear at the back of the head.  She say's it feels "heavy"???   Could this be edema building up in the brain?  If not does anyone know what this could be?  Thanks in advance.

Hector, It is so nice to meet you.... You seem to be the 'go to guy' for everyone on this site. Thank you so very much for taking your time helping those of us in need.

I have a long road ahead with my sister. I have no idea what to expect next. I'm so glad I found this site.  I'm lost and will need help to dealing with future issues.

My sister and I are extremely close. She is all I have and I want to be certain I am educated about cirrhosis.  I've read everything I can find but there are no real answers for anything.

Can you tell me how her labs can be so good (except white count & platelets) and yet she is so sick?

Thanks again for caring for others in need.

Decompensated cirrhosis and its many complications can be life-threatening and need immediate attention.

She should call her transplant center or hepatologist and let them know of this development ASAP.

Only a specialist in liver disease (hepatologist) can determine if the cause of her headaches are related to her advanced liver disease.

Best of luck.
