Liver Transplant

My mom in India has been suffering from Cirrhosis for the past 3 years. Now the Doctor is suggesting Transplant due to unmanageable ascites.

My 2 Questions are-
1. How easy or difficult is it to get a transplant?
2. What is the life expectancy like after that?

I cannot answer about the ease of getting a transplant in your country. What I can tell you is a successful liver transplant recipient can live as long a life as anyone else. Good luck

I also cannot answer your question about difficulty of receiving a transplant in India I have heard it can take months or years of waiting in the United States.

I have heard people who have received a liver transplant can go on to live many more years after a successful transplant procedure.

Best of luck

I found this information about life expectancy after liver transplant.

“ Many may live for up to 20 years or more after the transplant. A study says 90% of people with transplant survive for at least 1 year, and 70% of people may live for at least 5 years after transplant.”
