On liver

I had acute hep in 2017 , liver enzymes were off the hook …...after 4 weeks everything went back to normal......all blood work was great , 3 months latter saw a gasto Dr , tested for allot , again all blood work came back normal.

1 year latter , check up, again all blood work for liver and more were all still normal! No hep c or hep of any kind !
I then started having gerd , had some blood in it , they did not think that much about it.  In April of 2019  was checked again by Hospital , all blood work for liver was fine, They did a cat scan with contrast and said my liver was fine, and all organs etc

Well on January 15th I started having , acid reflux again, with blood.....went to Hospital , they did lots of bllod work and all came back fine again

My concern is I hear people throw up Blood with cirrhosis? They never mentioned that word with me, during all this, just acute hep , that went away, I am scared they are missing something.....I am not a drinker etc

Am I just bein paranoid , with Health anxiety? In 2017 they never even mentioned that word....on dr said I damaged my liver a bit, one said fatty liver?  And then just acute Hep  ….But all seemed to fix it self ? I'm so confused .    Sine all blood work has been great and the last cat scan with contrast , I just came across google and read throwing up blood is a sign? Now I'm scared and having severe anxiety

All your blood work is normal except glucose which I already mentioned. No point in posting normal results they are normal. Normal is normal.

People with ulcers can vomit blood.  People with very advanced end stage liver disease can develop many symptoms including very enlarged blood vessels in the esophagus (swallowing tube) which can become enlarged to the point the burst ant there is a risk of bleeding to death. There would be copious amounts of blood or possibly vomiting large amounts of what looks like coffee grounds which is partly digested blood.

Your liver is fine there is no reason to suspect cirrhosis. You should check with a gastroenterologist about your GERD and check for possible ulcers or other causes for your light bleeding. You could even have this symptom from coughing too hard.

“ Esophagitis and gastroesophageal reflux. Stomach acid that returns, or "refluxes," back into the esophagus from the stomach can cause irritation and inflammation of the esophagus (esophagitis) that may lead to bleeding”

Just GERD alone can cause this symptom.

Also you may have noticed your elevated glucose. Unless you were fasting for at least 8 hours your glucose test doesn’t mean anything.

Thank you, I am also tired , maybe due to stress ...and appetite is kinda low for me.  So since the did do a liver panel, etc that would show liver problems. Or  cirrhosis?

And the cat scan with contrast, they said your liver looks fine! So one of these would of been off right?     To have any liver problems
If you had cirrhosis you would likely have many apparent signs. Often you would have something called putting edema whee your lower limbs and feet would have swelling which has a pitting impression that lasts for a period of time after creating an indent. Often you would have a low platelet count. If something was actively attacking your liver you would have elevated liver enzymes. Since my hep c was cured in 2015 my liver enzymes are normal range even though I have had cirrhosis now for 12 years.

Test the cat scan would show indications of cirrhosis.

You have no reason to suspect cirrhosis as your doctors have already told you.

Tiredness is a very vague symptom and could be anything or nothing same for loss of appetite. The reason for loss of appetite in cirrhosis is often because patients with advanced cirrhosis develop pronounced ascities which is fluid retention in the abdomen to a point where the  patient looks pregnant. This fluid retention presses on the stomach and lower lungs giving the patient a feeling of fullness where they may feel uncomfortable and are not hungry. Ascities can also make breathing difficult.

See your doctor for your GERD preferably    a gastroenterologist.

You have no reason from your health history or your blood tests to suspect cirrhosis. You don’t have symptoms or signs and your doctors have said you don’t have cirrhosis. I suggest you believe your medical professional. We here are not doctors we are patients and cannot diagnose any medical condition. The primary purpose of the forum is for moral support to share with other patients our own experiences in dealing with chronic liver disease.

Best of luck
