Persistent Sore Throat but symptom gets a bit 'strange'

Hello!
I'm new to this site and i don't know how this is done yet, so I'll just post my question and see what happens!

I have a persistent sore throat that is getting on my nerves! History:

About a week ago I woke up with an irritating throat ache that gradually reached a climax of near severe pain that went up to my ears, and mild fever (38.4ºC = 101.12ºF). I called my GP and he happened to be out of town, hence he suggested that I take mefenamic acid (Brand Name: Ponstan in Greece)to alleviate the symptoms and go to the ER so that another doctor can evaluate the situation. The day after the next, I decided to go to the hospital indeed, seeing that my symptoms were stable but without any chance of improvement. The otolaryngologist there told me that I had just a little pus , but a considerable amount of mucus and an obviously irritated throat. He prescribed cefuroxime axetil 500mg (Zinadol here) for a week (2tblts a day, 1p12h) and suggested I use Solu-Ket (an anti inflammatory mouthwash. I had to gargle two times a day for a week). After 2-3 days my symptoms were reduced to mild throat irritation, no fever (from day 1 of antibios).but what I had initially perceived to be a tendency to cough, turned out to develop as a cough that got worse every day -despite of my overall improvement. My coughing is non producive, and it occurs only in the morning and at night. Sometimes I wake up at night with difficulty breathing but it goes away after a minute. This happens a lot with my allergies and I have Symbicort by my side in case of real shortness of breath. I also felt ear pressure constantly on my left ear, but that also came and went. Long story short, on the last day of medication, the first day without anti inflammatories, I started having throat ache again, but this time a very peculiar one:

I feel as though something is swollen at the back of the throat, giving me pain sensation that stretches to the ear. It's always on one side e.g. the back left side of the throat, back left part of my tongue (!) and left ear. Funny thing is it comes only when I wake up and, of course, at night, and it changes sides every day! ! ! Paracetamol and other over-the-counter pain relievers make it better sometimes, but other times they have no effect, or the pain goes away on its own!!

I went to another otolaryngologist yesterday and he 'cleared' me, same as my physician did today. They say I have a 'red' throat but no signs of mucus, pus, virus whatever. My physician felt my throat, lymph nodes, he examined me with a stehtoscope and all (a standard GP visit) and he 'cleared' me as well. He told me that it's just that even though I have recovered from the flu (he believes it was a flu from the start, and he wouldn't have prescribed me antibios had I gone to him first) I still have an irritated throat. He also said that because I have allergies, dry coughing is only natural after recovery. According to him, it's common for viruses to trigger allergy-like symptoms (my cough) after the flu. He prescribed levocertirizine for 5 days, 1 tbl before bedtime. I'm used to this medication as I've been allergic to cats & dogs(almost severe), dust (moderate reaction) for years now, plus I get a little bit of hayfever every other year (very mild). I get that my cough is probably an allergic reaction.

But what happens with my throat?? Both doctors advised that I take antihestamines for a week, but neither found anything wrong with my throat (appart from irritation and a little inflammation that will, as they say, go away), and I think they couldn't understand what I was describing. I can't describe my symptoms any better to myself.

I'd like your opinion because it really hurts when I swallow, and the pain isn't always considerably better after painkillers. I don't know what to do! And because I'm a bit hypochondriac (used to be, anyway!) I don't think anyone really believes me when I say that my throat symptoms are not  the 'classic' sore throat. It's not like an irritation. I feel it as though it was a muscle thing.

Additional info: I recently traveled by train (domestic), and I was so 'lucky' that the only seat I found was directly below the air conditioning. Outside was almost heatwave-y, and you can imagine how low inside temp was. Could that have given me a 'stiff throat'? I repeat, the pain is not consistent. It comes and goes, sometimes not at regular intervals (morning's fine, night very bad etc). I wouldn't exaggerate so much as to call it a severe discomfort, but it is at least a moderate one.

should I be concerned? What other doctor (specialty) is left to consult?

Thank you in advance for your consideration, and I apologize for the length of this post. I also apologize for any grammatical and/or syntactic errors, but English will never be my first language -although it is my field of studies!!

Greetings from Summery Greece

Update

For the ones who might chance upon this post suffering from the same symptoms, according to two ENTs and two Pathologists, my sore throat/ear is due to my allergies that don't allow my nose to ventilate adequately, thus causing the aches. I'm on Budesonide Nasal (1 spray each nostril, twice a day) and Xyzal tablet 5ml (once before sleep) for 20 days. Hope this helps. Truth is my soreness has subsided, but if I miss even a dose of Xyxal, I find it difficult to sleep because of allergic cough. I will see an allergologist soon, and might update yet again.

Well, I've tried honey but I didn't know about onions. Will try it, thanks! :-)

PS My GP told me to take a few lozenges (medical, not drugstore candy) that have antiseptic/anti inflammatory properties. Other than that, he told me not to worry and call him in 5 days.
