Left Tonsil ache on and off

For the past 3 months my left tonsil has ached on and off. I have pressed it and a small amount of yellow pus did stain the Q-tip I was using plus tonsil stones have been coming from the tonsil. I'm still able to swallow and eat, the ache is aggravating me though. There's no fever, cough, only sneezing. Is this a cold (viral) or allergies? If either what should I do?

Hey appleme, i had a bit of a throat infection a few months ago. I had what seemed like a lump in my throat that was painful made it hard to swallow even my own saliva and made me want to scratch out the back of my throat with a garden rake, and i did just that with granola and muesli not bothering to chew it up before swallowing, hoping they would wash it away, didn't work. Surprise surprise.

Now i'm not the biggest pill popper alive if at all but i did try some over the counter medication which didn't do much.

What did eventually take the lump way was a combination of gargling natural sea salt twice a day and swishing organic coconut oil in my mouth for 20 mins in the morning. Did i know know the coconut oil was going to work? No. I had however read that coconut oil sucks up toxins from the mouth when you take a table spoon of it and swish it about in your mouth for a good 20 mins then spit it out.

Like magic, a week later, i was able to eat and swallow properly again. You can read up on that and give it a go. Goodluck

Well, my son has chronic allergy issues.  It's not really like that to be honest. Granted, you may have some kind of post nasal drip if you have allergies where it is aggravating it.  But he has a lot of itching with his allergies which is typical for an allergic response to things.  so, the back of his throat itches and inside his nasal cavity.  He takes over the counter antihistamine daily and it helps?

Not sure if that makes sense.

Oh gosh, I can't imagine pressing a Q tip to my tonsil!!  Yikes.  Don't do that, okay?  Perhaps you do have a clogged salivary gland.  3 months wouldn't be a virus.  Can you be see by a doctor?

Yes I can... What has stopped me from going is assuming that it's allergies and if it is indeed allergies  then there is nothing that can be prescribed. I've tried Amoxicillin and Penicillin nothing worked so I was back to thinking it's allergies
