Colon Cancer

18 month ago I found out I was bleeding and at that time I was having constipation all the time, I  got so scared and went to the hospital and they told me to speak with my doctor to get a colonoscopy because they could not see the source of bleeding.

I visited my doctor and he made digital exam and protoscopy and told me I had a fissure. However I always think of the worst. After 3 months I had a severe diarhea and convinced myself that i had colon cancer. My doctor sent me for CBC, occult blood test, liver enzimes, ESR, tumor marker, ultrasound and finally a CT scan with oral contrast,Nothing was found, He told me i have IBS.

The issue its that my abdominal pain continues and i tend to develop very loose stools. i am scared really

Thank you so much for your reply, my doctor did protoscopy not colonoscopy because the blood was bright red and a fissure was confirmed. I was at my doctor last week and another exam was done, he says that there is no need for colonoscopy because i am 38  and the CT scan does not indicate anything.

I suffer daily with gas pain but no bloating.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
I agree with your doctor that if nothing has been found on colonoscopy then there is nothing much to worry about. The symptoms, as the doctor has suggested can be due to irritable bowel syndrome. Common symptoms include abdominal cramping or pain, bloating and gassiness, and altered bowel habits(alternate constipation and loose stools).

Irritable bowel syndrome can be a very difficult diagnosis to make. IBS is called a diagnosis of exclusion, which means that a doctor considers many other alternatives first, perhaps performing tests to rule out other problems.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
