A certain amount of what Paxiled said about cold beverages is adopted into natural medicine practices in the west, too. I read some information on Dr. Mercola's site that fits in line with what many Asian people have told me, particularly Chinese people. The belief with the Chinese is that hot beverages should be eaten with the meals to help digestion. Dr. Mercola keeps trying to encourage people to adapt to a more natural and traditional diet and medical practice, which in most natural medicines is almost the same thing in both the western natural medicine and Chinese natural medicine. Both types of natural medicine are certainly different, but this one principle is the same. Dr. Mercola was talking about helping people understand that if it's too difficult to not drink the cold or icy beverages all the time that it would still be best to avoid icy beverages during meal time. During this adjustment period, it is best to drink only room temperature water, if water is necessary. However, he does follow this principle of drinking warm and hot beverages at and around meal times, because this does help with digestion. This is the same as the principle in Chinese medicine, even though he is not a practicer of Chinese medicine. However, he is a well known natural doctor and is one to take the best information from all other top natural doctors he interacts with.
I'm basically agreeing with Paxiled, but giving a little bit more information from what I read on Dr. Mercola's site. And, like Paxiled, I'm stumped at what is going on with you, too. That's why I didn't say anything the day before. I was actually thinking along the same lines as Paxiled when I read your post initially, though.
Have no idea what's going on with you, but an interesting tidbit for you -- in traditional Chinese medicine they don't believe in drinking cold beverages because of what they consider the shock to the body, which is a toasty 98.6 degrees.
