Unconscionable Police Raid on Family's Home and Organic Food Co-Op

This happened in December 2008 and it really is unconscionable. I just am in shock that something like this can happen, but then looking back into the history and some of the things authorities did to alternative medicine practitioners (google rife testing).... I guess I shouldn't be that surprised.

Unbelievable.

Sorry, guys, don't know the truth about the raid or anything, but a coop isn't exempt from having to get a permit.  A coop is just another form of corporation, and is regulated like any other corporation, and when it comes to food, there are a lot of regulations.  The permit starts the process that notifies the health department to inspect the premises for feces, infestations, and such, and that there are proper sanitization facilities for utensils.  I managed a coop, I've managed privately owned health food stores, and you do have to get a license and get inspected.  You even have to take a course on proper food handling.  Health departments are a pain, but most of the regulations are very important.  They're trying to prevent the spread of disease, but can be very heavy handed and don't often understand natural methods.  My guess is, these people were warned, or somebody informed on them, probably a customer.

Great comments....I absolutely agree and could add so much more as we all could. It is a disgrace that time and $ is wasted and people's innocent lives are ruined!
Dr Mercola posted this article on his webpage and newsletters.
My heart and prayers go out to these people!

Well….it’s about time the government got its priorities straight. Things like the constitution and the bill of rights MUST take a back seat when we are in so much danger from people like the Stowers. When you watch their interview on you-tube it’s obvious that they are a threat that warrants a raid with weapons drawn. Thanks to the Lorain County Prosecutor’s office, the department of agriculture and health department for investing their precious resources to protect us from the Stowers. Thank goodness our government is not allowing itself to be distracted by silly threats from food from China, Mexico, Central and South America. And thank goodness that they are not wasting all of those weapons on silly things like securing our borders but using it to hold captive several children and their mother, who just happen to inconveniently all be U.S. citizens. Hopefully the government with its unlimited resources will continue to harass these people who want to eat healthy. (My God can you imagine?) The law officers and government officials involved should proudly hold their heads high for turning their backs on freedom and taking such heroic action on the front line of what threatens our country i.e. DANGERIOUS organically grown food. Let this be a lesson to all the rest of you who think you can selfishly put your health ahead of the government bureaucracies. I mainly eat at fast food restaurants where I can feel safe from healthy food as well as armed government raids.
