Jugular Vein Distention or Neck Spams?

So for months now, I've had this weird erratic pulse on the right side where my neck and collar bone meet. It almost seems like the vein in that area is having trouble pumping blood or something. For every heartbeat, the neck vein pulses about three times--once kind of low and then twice really hard. It feels kind of like when a water hoes is backed up. I feel it the most when I'm laying down, but it's so strong sometimes that it keeps me from sleeping. You can't see it while I'm standing up and usually goes away a few minutes after getting up. However, when I lay down, it can go on for an hour (at most). I'm a 24 yr old female, just lost 20 lbs in the last 8 months due to extreme anxiety so my neck feels thinner. (currently 140 lbs at 5"3) Please don't dismiss this as anxiety because it really does feel weird. It seems too in rhythm with my heart beat to a spasm, but what do I know, it could be.

Any ideas of what it could be? I really can't sleep at night thinking that I might have a stroke from a blocked artery. The worst part is that most doctors blow you off as being paranoid.
