Primacor iv infusion

I have a loved one who has decompensated heart failure and was just placed on primacor therapy at home.  I have been unable to find information about the in home infusion. How long are patients kept on this medication being he had a PICC line placed?  I thought it was only 72 hours. Is it a palliative measure or is improvement possible? Other treatments have not been effective.

Hi,
Primacor IV infusion is indicated in short term treatment of acute decompensated heart failure or as maintenance therapy in long standing heart failure. Side effects to this drug are rare but can occur due to associated drugs used for treating heart failure. A patient on this
medication needs continuous monitoring when initiated plus regular blood work
to follow electrolyte levels, renal function (kidney), as well the blood pressure
and heart rhythm need to be followed.   It is mostly used as a continuous infusion
for acutely ill patients in the intensive care unit, but can also be used
as a continuous infusion for long term(home)use in those with advanced heart
failure. Response to treatment is the only criteria to prolong treatment beyond 48 hours.
