Thanks.. are there resting heart rate also much higher than normal ? if yes, then precisely how much ? (i.e. over 100 BPM resting rate) ?
Hi,
The patients who are suffering from CHF usually have much higher heart rate and this is primarily due to the activation of the adrenergic / sympathetic system which normally gets activated at the time of stress and the presence of CHF is a continuous stress for a person. This is the reason beta blockers are used in patients of mild CHF to take care of the increased heart rate. Beta blockers decrease the heart rate and tend to improve the performance of the heart. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
