5 weeks after breast reduction with open wound

I had a breast reduction a little more than 5 weeks ago and I have this open wound that seems like it is never going to heal. Every time I go to the Dr she looks at my open wound and says its looking better but to me it looks worse, she says its doing what it is suppose to do before it gets better. I am to get a dry sterile gause 2X2" and wet it with this solution she gave me and then apply it directly on the open wound then cover it with 4X4" dry gauze and apply tape to hold the gauze in place, I am to do this twice a day. I shower then remove the gauze, when doing so no to mention is very painful, the open wound starts bleeding a little. My question is, is this open wound going to heal if i keep getting it wet and applying the wet gauze?

These type of wounds are fairly common after breast reduction surgery.  They seem to take forever to heal, but ultimately (within several more weeks) and suddenly heal.  Be patient and I am sure it will resolve.
